Orchard Breezin' Mango Mint Chenin Blanc

Posted by: RJ Spagnols, Thursday, March 26, 2009

Mint is the multipurpose herb - useful as a culinary addition in desserts, used to make sweet tea, in cocktails, as well useful for settling an upset stomach. This refreshing herb finds a perfect pair with the succulent, ripe mango - the cool flavor of mint refreshes and cleanses the mouth after the mango's sweetness, leaving a pleasant taste. The balance of sweet and cool in this fruity Chenin Blanc wine is a perfect after dinner digestive or summer cocktail.

Just bottles this last week, and have already drank 2 bottles. Very smooth, and a very faint hint of mint. I wish it had a little more mint flavor. Added a bottle of Cruzan Mango Rum to it at the end. Cruzan has come out with a new flavor, Mango Mint, but it hasn't made it to ABC, yet.

I just bottled my Mango Mint today (June9,2011) and it is much better than I thought it would turn out. I am not a great lover of these so called "flavoured wines" which one finds in so many stores in the box wine section. I changed the rules a bit by adding half of the flavour bag content at the start which has given the "wine" a bit more alcohol (9.8%) and it is less sweet at the end. I am looking forward to my Acai Raspberry which will be next.
