Orchard Breezin' Blackcurrant White Merlot

Posted by: RJ Spagnols, Monday, February 08, 2010

On it’s own, Merlot often presents flavours of cassis but this version takes it to the next level. Intense black currant merges with the rich berry and fruit flavours naturally present in a white merlot. This blend combines Merlot’s natural soft, supple nature but with a burst of full fruit flavours, creating an easy drinking, anytime wine.

Very sweet, again I wish RJ Spagnols would give us separate bags of fruit flavour (blackcurrant in this case) and sweetener. At present the two are combined int one bag in these kits and therefor the individual wine maker has no control over sweetness without losing some of the flavour.

Some people put half of the flavouring pack into the primary before pitching the yeast. Keeps all of the flavour and reduces the sweetness. I haven't done this but it might blow off some of the fruit aromas.
