mold on beer

Posted by: tombr, Thursday, August 26, 2010

Hello. I made a beer from grain in late July. I just opened the primary and found a huge piece of mold floating on top. It came off in one piece. While I am fairly certain I know the answer to this one, is it still drinkable? It still smells fine. Anyone else have any experience with this?
Thanks,

When you say primary are you starting in a carboy or pail type fermenter?

Thanks for replying. Don't worry about it. It failed the taste test. It's now fertilizer. Grrr. It's my own fault too... Lesson learned.

that's probably for the best. Mold on cheese is okay, but mold on beer is just asking for a stomach problem.
