En Primeur Dashwood New Zealand Pinot Noir

Posted by: RJ Spagnols, Monday, September 22, 2008

Elevated aromas of plump red cherries, bitter chocolate and spice define the intense varietal character of this full-bodied wine. Fermented on Hungarian oak cubes and winery grade yeast, it is ruby red in colour, the palate is rich and oaky supported by blackberries and herb flavours layered over silky, integrated tannins.

This Pinot Noir is very impressive; it has rich flavors, smells and taste. This Pinot Noir can be enjoyed young. I’m already enjoying mine after 3 months of bulk aging. Naturally it continues to get better with age; however it will not embarrass when presented to friends while young. Definitely worth doing. I will repost a follow-up comment on this kit when the wine has its 1 year birthday.

Great idea. I decided to bulk age as Ernie mentions above, will let it sit for 1 year before bottling. I should be good to keep a few up to 4 years. Thanks!
