Cru Select RQ Okanagan Valley Red Meritage

Posted by: RJ Spagnols, Thursday, March 26, 2009

A wonderfully rich blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it opens with aromas of vanilla, chocolate and leather. On the palate, there are flavours of plum and black currant with a touch of cloves accented by Hungarian oak shavings which are enhanced by fermenting over Cabernet- Merlot GenuWine Winery Dried Grape Skins. The long, ripe tannins add to the wine’s complexity. An elegantly balanced wine ready to drink quickly but enough firmness for cellaring. Keep this wine on hand for BBQs and picnics.

I started this wine on Oct. 10, 2010 and bottled it 2 weeks ago. There is no way this will last until it ages properly, so I will have to start a new batch immediatly. My wife says this is one of the best of the 14 batches I have made so far and I would recomend this to anyone who likes a complex red that is not jammy and goes well with food.
