Cellar Classic Winery California Old Vine Zinfandel

Posted by: RJ Spagnols, Monday, September 22, 2008

Sourced from old vines that date back to years of history and tradition, our Old Vine Zinfandel surrounds the palate with impressions of black cherries and plump dark fruit, framed by ample aromas of tobacco and dark coffee from the toasted French Oak. Fermented on varietal Zinfandel Winery Grape Skins, this full-bodied dry wine is fruit forward, yet showcases an array of spicy favours on the finish.

After consuming "my share" of yellowtail, this is a very nice step-up to a smooth tasting wine. I am no expert of fine wines, actually I probably belong in the redneck catergory since I reside in the great state of Alabama ( notice how every other letter is an A). Anyway, this is a super wine to enjoy on the back porch with your bird-dog chasing after squirrels, in the summer time.
Thoroughly pleased, and looking for the next wine to make, that can compete with the "Old Vine Zinfandel".

This was our first wine from the Winery Series. My wife and I couldn't believe the body and depth after just 6 months of aging, and every bottle since has been better than the last. I have a friend who didn't think much of the store bought Zinfandels, but was impressed with this Old Vine. I'm so pleased with the quality of this wine that my next three wines will be from the Winery Series, including another batch of Old Vine Zinfandel. If you looking wine with full body and bold flavors that you can share over a meal or enjoy alone, I would recommend adding this to your stock.
